Hi, I’m Dan the diver, photographer and tinkerer behind https://pdxdiver.io. I am a passionate underwater photographer. When I’m not in the water, I’m usually building tools to manage and process my growing library of marine life images: automating photo pipelines, experimenting with AI/ML.

I split my dive time between the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest and the warmer locations whenever I can. My work blends photography, travel, marine life documentation, and DIY engineering. Whether I’m removing backscatter from a night dive in Hood Canal or designing a RAG system to identify nudibranch species from my images, I’m always chasing the next dive, the next project, or the next creature I haven’t photographed yet.
